Very difficult birding Cortonwood this morning. At times i`d all on standing upright, never mind looking through my bins. Nevertheless, again it was a case of the same highlights as previous days. Give or take the actual numbers of each species.
Back at home and it was good to see one half of the pair of the Stock Doves put in an appearance, after a couple of weeks absence. And judging by their absence and the full crop on the bird below, i`m presuming they must have newly hatched chicks in the nest. Wherever that may be.
Beautiful colours in the Stock Dove's plumage, Dean.
ReplyDeleteGreat to visit again Dean :-) lovely photo of the Stock Dove.
ReplyDeleteTry and keep your chin up, it's never easy for some of us to stay positive at this time of the year.
Very under-rated are Stock Doves...
ReplyDeleteCould do with a bit less wind and a bit more cold!
Cheers
Davo
Are you going to Rebellion Dean? I see that Rancid are playing this year
ReplyDeleteNot as boring as looking out of my window, I can tell you!
ReplyDeleteRob : Yeah. As Dave said, a very under-rated bird. But not in my book.
ReplyDeleteJan : Thank you, and great to have you back.
Chin`s back up now (for the time being), now that the wind as dropped.
Dave : I agree, but not by me.
We`ve lost the wind today :-)
Jason : I only wish i was, mate. Money being the main hurdle. Gonna see the Vibrators, in March though.
Toffeeapple : ;-) Pretty boring looking out of my window today, so far.
I like the song of the Stock Dove echoing through the woods Dean,I know they nest here but I never find 'em :-)
ReplyDeleteWarren : I`ve only ever happened upon one nest before, and that was in a Tawny Owl nestbox.
